Nintendo has had the best Christmas since it launched the Wii launched in 2006. Nintendo shifted 7.23 million Switch consoles in Q4. That Brings the total number of consoles sold up to 14.86 in just 10 months.
To put that into perspective, The Wii U managed just 13.56 million units in a little over 5 years before Nintendo pulled the plug on its production.
Its not just console sales giving Nintendo reason to celebrate. Its game offerings are also selling unbelievably well. In the weeks after the Switch launched, The Switch version of Zelda actually sold more copies than there were Switch consoles. Add that to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2 and these 4 games have sold 28.1 million copies.
After the nightmare endured by Nintendo with the Wii U (which is a shame as it has some really good games to offer), this is hopefully the start of another fairytale year for Nintendo.
